Anonymous said: i've been a fan of your blog for a long time (i remember finding you from entries from the neo tag!), and i'm having some problems designing a mutant skeith. i was wondering if you had any tips/doodles on hand to help? i have a cutesy story idea (about him getting lost in a forest and trying to get back home) and really have no idea how to translate that idea into a drawing. thanks in advance, really n_n
Oh haha, god I’m probably the last person to ask for character designing tips, my motto is to keep it simple? I used to have really complex designs before I realised that they all had no personality whatsoever (I still debate the existence of personality in my characters…) so I ended up simplifying. I guess I hoped that I would draw them more and they’d be more than just a pretty character! This is probably really shit advice, but don’t get too caught up on making the perfect design, just do something you’ll enjoy drawing again and again!
(Or alternatively for actual practical advice, I usually go with a colour or physical trait of a neopet and design around that?)
